What started out 20 years ago as a small endeavor with only one shelf, a minimal amount of canned food and a few clients has since grown into a food pantry with freezers to hold donated frozen meat, cheese and other wonderful frozen items. In addition, we now have 13 shelves of dry and canned goods as well as cleaning supplies and household items. We currently assist approximately 112 families each and every Tuesday. That 112 families can often translate into close to 500 mouths being fed as some of our families are very large. Take that number and multiply that and we have the potential to feed close to 25,000 mouths each year. 25,000 mouths!! Is that number shocking to you? It really should be. It never ceases to be shocking to us.
In addition to food, we have our free clothing room that everyone has access to each week. Each donated article of clothing, outerwear and shoes are meticulously and ruthlessly sorted and inspected for quality. As well, new articles of clothing are added to the store each and every week to keep the shelves stocked. Items with broken zippers, stains or damaged beyond simple repair do not go into the store. We will not put anything into our free clothing room that we wouldn’t wear ourselves. Dignity is vital to anyone that comes into the store for food or clothes.
Donations of food and clean, gently used clothing are always gratefully received, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-5 and Wednesdays from 9 – 3.
